Let’s be honest, most of us enjoy a glass or two of wine. And some of us love it so much we’re dying to know if it’s actually good for us. Well, there’s good news and bad news…first the good news:
Wine Contains Resveratrol
Resveratrol is a plant compound found in the skins of grapes, mainly the types of grapes used in red wine. It’s also found in blueberries and blackberries, plus a few other sources.
Studies into the health benefits of resveratrol have shown some extremely promising results, mostly in its ability to possibly extend lifespan, lower inflammation, protect against mental decay, and even lower blood pressure. (1) (2) (3) (4)
While more research is ongoing (and needed), resveratrol is having quite a moment as a powerful new antioxidant.
Every time you take a sip of wine, especially red wine, you’re getting a little of that resveratrol goodness into your body. But, how much?
Dr. Juan asked that question at our Santo Remedio offices while the cameras were rolling. Exactly how many glasses of wine would you have to drink to get 200mg of resveratrol? (That’s the amount in one capsule of Santo Remedio Resveratrol).
Check out the unbelievable answer:
So, that’s the bad news: You’d have to drink 25 bottles of wine (!) just to get 200mg of resveratrol. Unfortunately that’s not possible, or healthy!
But it doesn’t mean you have to stop drinking red wine completely, as long as you do it in moderation. Wine is a relaxation and social outlet for millions of people, and relaxation is definitely good for your health.
Maybe the best answer, if you love wine, is to have your glass of red wine AND a capsule of resveratrol. That’s the best of both worlds.
Let’s get healthier together,
Your friends at Santo Remedio
