Inulin: The Weight Loss Prebiotic

Inulina: el prebiótico que apoya la pérdida de peso

Slimming down and managing a healthy weight is a lifelong process. Maintaining your ideal weight is the result of daily choices made over the long haul.

We’re excited to share another aide in your wellness journey: a potent prebiotic called inulin. Inulin is an ingredient in many of the new Entalla Products, including Super Slim Café.

What is Inulin?

Inulin is friendly fiber, with benefits. It’s a natural fiber found in a variety of foods such as onions, leeks, wheat, garlic, and bananas. As a soluble fiber, inulin dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance that slows digestion, giving your body more time to absorb nutrients and keeping you full longer.

What makes inulin different from other fibers is that it’s a prebiotic, which means it feeds the immune-supporting good bacteria in your intestines. Those bacteria also help your body take in nutrients more efficiently, which helps inulin support weight loss.

Does Inulin Work for Weight Loss?

In a 2015 study, researchers investigated the effect of inulin on folks who were working to lose weight. In weeks 1–9, the 44 participants worked with dietitians toward a 5% weight-loss goal. Additionally, half the group supplemented with inulin while the other half was given a placebo.

In weeks 10-18, participants were asked to maintain their weight loss without the support of a dietician, though they did continue their assigned supplements. While virtually everyone lost about 5% of their body weight by week 9, the people who used inulin lost 26% more weight in weeks 10-18.(1) That’s big (or small) news!

Another study tested the effect of inulin on mood and hunger. Each day for 2 weeks, participants had inulin or a placebo with breakfast and reported to scientists how they felt during the following 4 hours. Participants noted feeling happier and less hungry on the days they had the inulin.(2)

What Inulin Sources are Best?

The two highest sources of inulin are chicory root and Jerusalem artichoke. Since these plants, especially chicory root, aren’t common cooking ingredients, it’s easiest to get inulin from a reputable supplement.

That’s why we’ve included inulin in one of our most popular Entalla products, designed to make your goals that much more attainable.

Super Slim Café

Now your daily cafecito can boost your metabolism, increase your fiber intake, and help you burn calories. Our Columbian coffee is infused with 14 superfoods and inulin from chicory root and Jerusalem artichoke. It might just be our most delicious supplement ever.

Inulin won’t replace a healthy lifestyle, but adding it to your daily routine is a simple choice that could make your weight-loss efforts even more effective. You’re ready to do the work. Let inulin work for you.

Let’s get healthier, together,

Your friends at Santo Remedio
