Get the Most from your Remedy: Collagen, Biotin and Turmeric

Aprovecha al Máximo tu Remedio: Colágeno, Biotina y Cúrcuma

Today we’re starting another new series for all of our Santo Remedio family: Get the Most from your Remedy

“When” and “How much” are critical questions that could determine if a remedy works for you or fits your busy lifestyle. This series will highlight popular Santo Remedio products and give you all the info you need to get the most from your remedy!

Remember, a remedy isn’t a remedy unless you use it! We can’t get fitter just sitting on the couch, we’ve got to put our bodies to work. It’s the same with any routine or remedy. To get the most out of our remedies, we’ve got to put them to work.

Let’s start with the three products in our popular Skin and Beauty Saver Healthy Together Pack. They are collagen, biotin, and turmeric.

What are They?

Collagen

Collagen is one of the most important—and abundant—proteins in the human body, making up nearly 80% of our skin. Collagen is responsible for keeping our nails, hair, and bones strong. As we age, our natural collagen begins to break down, reducing the strength and elasticity of our skin and weakening our bones. Fortunately, daily collagen supplements can replenish our body’s collagen. That means stronger bones, fresh skin, and better looking hair and nails.

Biotin

Biotin is a vitamin that helps breakdown and convert food into energy. It also triggers the body’s production of keratin proteins, the protein associated with hair, skin, and nail growth and rejuvenation. Because it can stimulate healthy hair, skin, and nails, biotin is a key part of most natural beauty supplements in the world, including ours!

Turmeric

Turmeric is a favorite spice used in many different cultures. But it hides a delicious secret identity: taken as a concentrated supplement, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant that can help reduce inflammation.

Our body benefits from a little inflammation. A good inflammatory response fights off bacteria and repairs damage after an injury. But when inflammation becomes persistent, it can attack healthy tissue and cause the long-term damage associated with many chronic illnesses. Chronic inflammation can lead to internal issues, but it also leaves its mark on the outside, including increased signs of aging, puffiness, and skin tags.

When

Every woman seemingly has a different routine for when they take their collagen. Some like it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, claiming that this helps it avoid stomach acid that might break it down. Others like taking it with meals, believing this helps absorption. Even others swear by taking it at night, as the body uses it during sleep to repair skin. There is just as much advice out there for the other two products in our Skin and Beauty Saver, turmeric and biotin. But what does science say about when to take collagen, biotin and turmeric?

The short answer: DAILY

The time of the day doesn’t matter as much, and is really a personal preference. Stomach acid does break down collagen, but only into the amino acids that the body then can reuse to make more. And having a full or empty stomach doesn’t really affect the amount of stomach acid produced by the body.

As for taking it before bed, whether or not you take products during the daytime, your body is still going to use them to repair itself as it sleeps. The time of the day is nowhere near as important as taking it every day. Remember: There is no remedy without consistency.

Our advice? Give the pack a try and then use the exact schedule that works for you. But, as long as you’re feeling good, definitely do it daily.

With What and How Much?

Here’s where you can really focus to get the most out of your remedy. Studies have shown that vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, can help stimulate the production and absorption of collagen. So there might be an advantage to taking your collagen supplement alongside vitamin C, like the one found in our His & Her Multivitamin.

As for turmeric, it’s fat soluble, meaning it dissolves in fat. Though it is certainly not required, it might be a good idea to take your turmeric with food, as this can help with increased absorption of the nutrients in turmeric. That’s why so many people are adding turmeric to their bulletproof or immunity coffee recipes!

But our Skin and Beauty Saver Healthy Together Pack has already taken care of the most important beauty routine synergy: taking collagen, turmeric, and biotin together can help unlock all their powerful benefits.

These three powerful remedies work together to help support your hair, skin, and nails. Taking them together as part of a pack during your daily routine is going to give you every advantage to have your most glowing skin on the outside, and healthy connections, proteins, and bones on the inside.

Let’s get healthier, together.
