Our beauty queen, Alejandra Espinoza, is also the queen of airports because if there is one thing she is an expert in is traveling. She spends a considerable time on airplanes, between one commitment and another! And although many of us would love to have that type of responsibility, don't be fooled. Traveling by plane, at thousands of feet in the air, can be a huge challenge for your skin, as it is exposed to extreme environmental conditions that can affect it, drying it out and making it more prone to breakouts and aging. For this reason, Ale shares her best tips to prepare the skin before a flight and the routine she follows when arriving at her destination to look her best.
Tips to prep your skin before a flight
Three days before flying, Ale recommends you start deeply hydrating the skin inside and out. This includes:
- Increasing the use and frequency of the ZELMA Brightening Serum and Moisturizing Face Cream. This means applying these products three times a day.
- Drink at least 6 glasses of water a day.
- Make sure to pack your Piel Eterna products, including the Purifying Cleanser, ZELMA Brightening Serum, Moisturizing Face Cream, and RADIANCE Silky Primer Mineral Sunscreen.
Skincare routine on the plane
Once on the plane, Ale suggests following this routine:
Step #1: Wash your face with the Purifying Cleanser.
This way, you will eliminate impurities, makeup, and environmental germs, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and renewed, thanks to its antioxidants and ceramides.
Step #2: Apply the ZELMA Brightening Serum.
This serum will provide your skin with deep moisture and a dose of antioxidants and minerals to restore your skin's luminosity.
Step #3: Massage the face and neck with the Moisturizing Face Cream.
By following this step, you'll ensure optimal skin hydration while promoting collagen production, as it contains antioxidants and peptides.
Step #4: Protect the skin with the RADIANCE Silky Primer Mineral Sunscreen.
Even if you think it makes no sense to use it because you are not under the sun, remember that RADIANCE also protects from artificial lighting and blue lights from electronic devices. Plus, it provides antioxidant support and a light tint to cover imperfections for a more silky, natural look.
On top of these simple steps, Ale brings attention to specific, prevalent factors you must consider and steer clear of as they can harm your skin throughout your travels.
- Do not use the hot towels offered to clean your hands on your face. The heat opens the pores and exposes your skin to bacteria and dirt from the environment.
- Close the air window because it can further dry out the skin.
- Do not put your face directly on the seat when resting because chances are it is not properly disinfected.
- Avoid alcohol during the flight, as this increases body dehydration, affecting the skin.
You should also follow this routine and tips for train, bus, or car trips because although they are usually less intense, the skin is exposed to the same environmental conditions that can affect it. They are easy and quick and ensure you arrive at your destination looking like a queen!
